Saratoga High School’s Marching Band Places 2nd in Local Competition; Color Guard Awarded 1st Place

Los Gatos, October 14, 2022: The Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School District is proud to announce that the Saratoga High School Marching Band and Color Guard earned 2nd place overall at the Cupertino Tournament of Bands last Saturday, October 8, 2022, at Cupertino High School. In addition, Saratoga High School’s Color Guard took 1st place for their category.


Competing against 10 other schools in the area, Saratoga High School was awarded the following individual honors:

  • Color Guard: 1st Place
  • General Effect: 2nd Place
  • Visual Performance: 2nd Place
  • Percussion: 2nd Place
  • Music Ensemble: 3rd place
  • Music Woodwinds/Brass: 3rd place
  • Overall: 2nd Place

“Our extracurricular offerings at both Saratoga High School and Los Gatos High School are among the best in the area,” shared Bill W. Sanderson, Superintendent of Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School District. “I am incredibly proud of the commitment and dedication of our music students and staff. Their passion toward the Marching Band and Color Guard is evident in their award-winning performances.”


The Music Department will be hosting a Fall Showcase & Senior Night tonight, Friday, October 14, 2022. The fall showcase begins at 6pm with performances by all of Saratoga High School’s choirs and orchestras before moving to the stadium for Senior Recognition and the marching band performance. Each show performance is fully designed by Saratoga High School staff members, 


During the Fall, the Marching Band and Color Guard continue to perform as one unit together. During the Winter Season, the Color Guard and Percussion will have their own indoor competitive season. To learn more about the Saratoga High School music program, visit the Saratoga Music Boosters here
