Dear Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School District Community,
In the fall of 2020, the District made a commitment to extensively investigate concerns regarding how the issues of sexual harassment and assault are addressed in our schools.
Due to the serious nature of the issues raised, the District believed it critical to engage an independent third party to conduct an inquiry. The inquiry process revealed that there were instances in which the District had appropriate policies, practices, and responses and the inquiry also identified opportunities for improved district and school practices and community partnership.
When we initiated this inquiry, we made a commitment to release the full report when completed and we are doing so now to fulfill that commitment. The report identified some excellent recommendations for how we can improve our practices. The District is committed to working to implement each of the recommendations and in the spirit of transparency, the entire report is being shared here (see links to Executive Summary/Appendices B-E).
Although there may be differing opinions in response to the content of the report, please know that the District is committed to continuing our ongoing work to address these important issues and will continue to value the input of our entire community, as it will take the entire community to ensure these issues are resolved. We are committed to working to improve upon the key recommendations from the inquiry: additional education for students and staff, transparency and communication related to policies and practices, and developing community partnerships to address broader community issues that impact our students and schools.
On behalf of the Board of Trustees and our District, we thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Katherine Tseng Dr. Michael Grove
President, LGSUHSD Board of Trustees Superintendent
