Developer Fees

New Construction Web Banner

As of June 22, 2024, Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School District developer fees are:

  • Residential — $1.59 per square foot
  • Commercial — $0.26 per square foot
  • Rental Self Storage — $0.07 per square foot

Separate developer fees are assessed by Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School District and by the elementary feeder district in which the development lies. To simplify the process for fee payers, one entity collects all fees within each geographic area. LGSUHSD is the collecting entity only for developments within Lakeside Joint School District. For all other areas, the elementary feeder district collects fees on behalf of LGSUHSD. Contact information for the collecting entity within each area is listed below.

Determining Fees

A development's square footage is determined by the relevant municipal planning department. Phone numbers for the planning departments that cover most LGSUHSD boundaries are listed below:

  • Town of Los Gatos — (408) 354-6876
  • City of Monte Sereno — (408) 354-2805
  • City of Saratoga — (408) 868-1222
  • Unincorporated Santa Clara County — (408) 299-5700
  • Unincorporated Santa Cruz County — (831) 454-2580

Other Notes:

  1. Square footage is calculated by the relevant planning department. School districts do not read plans.
  2. For residential development, a "tear down" square footage credit is available for a remodel but not for a complete reconstruction.
  3. For commercial development, no tear down credit is available.
  4. No developer fees are charged for garages, storage areas, and unfinished basements.
  5. No developer fees are charged for residential remodels of less than 500 square feet, but the school district in charge of collecting fees must sign off on the Developer Impact Fee Form.
  6. All fees much be paid by cash or check.
