Cynthia Chang: Trustee. Term Expires: 2022 (Appointed in lieu of election 1998 and 2002 and reelected 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2018) is a CPA and holds an MBA from California State University, Los Angeles. She was a member of the Saratoga Union School District Board from 1994-98 before serving on the high school board. She also serves as the California School Boards Association Region 20 delegate. She is past President, Vice President of the Asian Pacific Islander School Board Members Association and has recently been re-elected as their President again.
She is active in the community, serving as the BSA Troop 508 Committee Chair for six years and as the Co-Chair of Saratoga's Memorial Day Observance event for the past three years (2013-2015). She was recognized as Woman of the Year for the California Assembly's 24th District in March 2010 for her decades of service to the community.
David Guidry: President. Term Expires: 2022 (Elected in 2018) has worked in high tech for over 30 years, first as an engineer and then in marketing. He has a BS degree from University of California, Berkeley and an MBA from the London Business School. He is a long time resident of the area and has raised 2 kids here, both of whom attended Saratoga High School. For the past 15 years, Mr. Guidry has been increasingly active in our community and with our schools. Starting as AYSO and Math Olympiad coaches to spend more time with his children, he then moved on to the Saratoga Education Foundation and Saratoga High School Foundation, serving as President during his time in both organizations. With both children in band, he has been a chaperone and regular volunteer with the marching bands. He is also currently on the board for the Friends of the Saratoga Libraries.
Peter L. Hertan: Vice President. Term Expires: 2022 (Elected in 2018) has been a resident of Los Gatos since 1977 and is the parent of a daughter who graduated from LGHS. Mr. Hertan has been extensively involved in local education, serving as an assistant coach for a girl’s softball team, a member of the Los Gatos elementary schools’ Dad’s Club and as President of the Los Gatos Education Foundation. Mr. Hertan worked in high tech for over 30 years, first as an engineer, then in sales and marketing. He has been the CEO of three successful startups and VP of either Engineering or Marketing & Sales for five successful startups.
He blended his commitment to quality education and his work in high tech as a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) tutor at West Valley College for two years and as a long-term board member and President of the Institute of Computer Technology (ICT). ICT, as a State of California charter, supported teacher education around the use of computers in schools. Mr. Hertan has and continues to serve the broader community, as a member of the Civil Grand Jury for two years, as their foreperson for the second year, and is currently a member of two County Commissions, plus the VTA Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission, and the Los Gatos Transportation and Parking Commission.
Katherine Tseng : Clerk. Term Expires: 2024 (Elected 2020, 2016, 2012) has been active in our school community for fourteen years and has served as Co-President for the Saratoga High School PTSO, Redwood Middle School PTA, Argonaut Elementary School PTA, Saratoga Education Foundation, Music Boosters, Saratoga High School Foundation and as a member of the Executive Board of Saratoga High School Sports Boosters. She has served for six years on the advisory board of the Saratoga Union School District and for the past year on the LGSUHSD Superintendent's Advisory Council. She was one of the co-chairs of the LGSUHSD Parcel Tax, Measure A campaign - successfully leading the passage of the first ever district parcel tax. She holds an M.A. in Statistics and has 15 years business experience as an actuarial consultant. She is the parent of two children, both graduates of Saratoga High School.
Cynthia Zhang is a senior at Saratoga High School and is serving as the 2020-2021 Associated Student Body President. She has been involved in student government for two years as Junior Class President and Sophomore Class Representative. She loves to celebrate Saratoga's diverse cultures, identities, and passions and is currently the president of Social Justice Club. In her free time, she enjoys playing the guitar, riding her longboard, hanging out with friends, and exploring local cuisines. Especially in such an unprecedented time, Cynthia hopes that she can represent the student body and create a difference.
Kevin Miller is a senior at Los Gatos High School and is serving as the Associated Student Body President for the 2020-2021 school year. He has been involved in student government in the Los Gatos schools every year since 7th grade, including most recently as Junior Class President and Sophomore Class President at LGHS. He enjoys making the school a fun place where everyone feels included and connected. He also represents Los Gatos as the President of Boys Team Charity Class of 2021 and as a member of the Varsity Basketball Team at Los Gatos High. In his free time, he likes hanging out with friends, playing basketball, helping out the community, and eating ice cream. He hopes to make a difference serving as Board Rep this year and is excited to represent the student body of LGHS on the Board."
