Silicon Valley Career Technical Education (SVCTE) is an opportunity to learn more about a career field by offering you hands-on learning. The many courses SVCTE offers are in many fields, such as health and medicine, First Responder, Animation, Film and Video, Vehicle maintenance, Culinary Arts, Cyber Security, Mobile App design, Veterinary Science, Metals Technology, etc. Many of the courses offered can fulfill A-G requirements. These courses are free to our students and are held daily on a campus in San Jose.

In order to arrange for this, you need to fill out the attached field trip slip and return the field trip slip to the College & Career Coordinator (CCC) at your high school. After you have completed this step, you will be instructed as to how to register online to attend the Shadow Day at SVCTE.
If you are unable to attend this Fall, there will be another Shadow Day opportunity in the Spring Semester in February 2025.

Located at the MetroEd campus, Silicon Valley Career Technical Education (SCVTE) offers state-or-the art programs taught by industry professionals who engage students in rigorous, real-world academics and skills development designed to support their success through college and in their future careers.
The Silicon Valley Career Technical Education offers courses within 12 industry sectors where junior and senior high school students can explore and develop technical skills that will lead them to higher education or into the workplace. Students earn 30 high school credits and college credits through hands-on training
Students attend half-days on the Silicon Valley Career Technical Education campus and half-days at their home high schools for a semester or an entire school year. Free-of-charge busing is available or students may drive or be transported to the campus. Twelve of the courses are UC “a-g” approved.
Silicon Valley Career Technical Education (SVCTE) serves high school students from 32 high schools within the six JPA school districts. Classes are designed specifically for high schools students; adults my register on a space-available basis, only.
