Advanced Placement (AP) Exams
Advanced Placement (AP) Exams are standardized exams designed to measure how well students have mastered the content and skills of a specific AP course.
LGSUHSD is proud to offer an extensive program of Advanced Placement courses and the corresponding College Board AP exams. Each fall students must register and pay for each AP exam they would like to take. For the 2024-25 school year, the registration fee for each AP exam is $125. Need-based financial assistance is available. Please contact the AP exam coordinator at your school for more information.
Students who are enrolled in an AP course will receive information from their teacher about when and how to sign up for the AP exam. The district is committed to allowing all students who are enrolled in an AP course to take the corresponding exam, provided they meet the registration and payment deadlines at their school.
LGSUHSD students may register for an AP exam without being enrolled in the corresponding course, but such registrations will be honored only if space is available. If demand exceeds testing capacity, space will be awarded first to 12th graders, then to 11th graders, then to 10th graders, and finally to 9th graders. If the test registration of a non-enrolled student cannot be honored due to capacity restrictions, the student will be notified by October 31.
LGSUHSD does not offer AP testing for students enrolled in a public or private school outside the district. Families should contact their school of attendance to arrange testing. Homeschool students who reside in the district boundaries, however, may register to take AP exams at a district high school by contacting the school’s AP testing coordinator by September 30.
Please contact your school site for details on registration for any AP exams.
