New Board Officers Selected!
At last night's Board of Trustees Organizational Meeting, a new slate of Board officers for 2015 was selected: Doug Ramezane, President; Cynthia Chang, Vice-President; and Rosemary Rossi, Clerk. Katherine Tseng and newly elected Trustee Robin Mano will continue to serve as Trustees and represent the Board on various district committees. Thank you to all of our Trustees for their dedication and hard work on behalf of our students and the community we serve!
Cynthia Chang: Vice-President. Term Expires: 2018 (Appointed in lieu of election 1998 and 2002 and reelected 2006 and 2010) is a self-employed CPA. She holds an MBA from California State University, Los Angeles. Ms. Chang was a member of the Saratoga Union School District Board from 1994-98 and served as Treasurer for both the Los Gatos-Saratoga Joint Union High School District and the Saratoga Union School District school facility measures campaigns (1997 and 1998). She is past President of the Asian Pacific Islander School Board Members Association and served on the Executive Board of “Building Bridges,” a Saratoga Rotary Club-sponsored project.
Ms. Chang represents the Board on the MetroEd Board of Trustees, serves on the California School Boards Association Delegate Assembly and as a Board Liaison on the District’s Budget Advisory Committee and Health Benefits Advisory Committee. She was recognized as Woman of the Year for the California Assembly's 24th District in March 2010 for her decades of service to the community.
Robin Mano, Trustee. Term Expires 2018 (Appointed in lieu of election 2014) has been a volunteer for our schools for 17 years, serving as President of the Blossom Hill Elementary School Home and School Club, President of the Los Gatos Education Foundation, Chair of the 2008 LGUSD District Measure E Parcel Tax campaign, President of the Los Gatos High School Home and School Club, Co-Chair of the 2011 LGSUHSD Measure A Parcel Tax campaign, Board Member of the New Millennium Foundation and Co-Chair of the 2014 LGSUHSD Measure E General Obligation Bond campaign. She has a bachelors degree from Bryn Mawr College. She and her family have lived in Los Gatos for 22 years. Her two children have benefited from attending our local public schools and one is a graduate from Los Gatos High School.
Douglas Ramezane : President. Term expires, 2018 (Elected November, 2010) had been a high school educator for 38 years, prior to his retirement in 2009. He served as Assistant Principal at Los Gatos High School from 1998-2005 and then as Principal from 2005-2009, and was the lead LGHS administrator for the school’s Measure B renovation. Mr. Ramezane now mentors new school administrators through the New Teacher Center in Santa Cruz.
He has been active in the Los Gatos Lions Club for the last ten years and served on the New Millennium Foundation Board for LGHS for four years. He currently serves as the Board Representative to KCAT and Liaison to the Parcel Tax Oversight Committee. He has three grown children, two of whom are local teachers.
Rosemary Rossi, Clerk. Term Expires: 2016, (Elected in November 2012, 2008, 2004) is a retired high school science teacher. She has been active in public education since 1997 serving as a school board member and president of the Home and School Association in Lower Merion, Pennsylvania. Ms. Rossi is the parent of four children, three of whom graduated from Saratoga High School. She has served as co-president of the Saratoga High School PTSA, a member of the PTSA Board, member of the Saratoga School Site Council and as co-president of Saratoga-Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Newcomers Club. She serves as a Board Representative on the District’s Budget Advisory Committee and Health Benefits Advisory Committee.
Katherine Tseng : Trustee. Term Expires: 2016 (Elected November, 2012) has been active in our school community for fourteen years and has served as Co-President for the Saratoga High School PTSO, Redwood Middle School PTA, Argonaut Elementary School PTA, Saratoga Education Foundation, Music Boosters, Saratoga High School Foundation and as a member of the Executive Board of Saratoga High School Sports Boosters. She has served for six years on the advisory board of the Saratoga Union School District and for the past year on the LGSUHSD Superintendent's Advisory Council. She was one of the co-chairs of the LGSUHSD Parcel Tax, Measure A campaign - successfully leading the passage of the first ever district parcel tax. She currently serves as the Liaison to the District Audit Committee. She holds an M.A. in Statistics and has 15 years business experience as an actuarial consultant. She is the parent of two children, one an SHS graduate and one a current student of Saratoga High School.
Neel Kattumadam is a senior at Saratoga High School and is honored to be serving as the student board representative for the 2014-2015 school year. Neel has been an active member of the student council for the past four years.
At school he is also highly involved in the music department and the marching band and is an avid saxophone player. He serves in several leadership roles at school such as the leader of the Saxophone section in the marching band, the head of New Student commission, ASB, Leadership Class, and the school Link Crew. Neel volunteers his time to serve organizations that help children learn music: MESH that focuses on middle school music education and AMASE which provides the same musical education for mentally disabled children of all ages. He is involved in his school's Speech and Debate Team and his events are Parliamentary and Lincoln Douglas Debate. In his free time, he enjoys listening to a wide variety of music, spending time with family and friends, watching movies,and playing sports such as basketball and badminton.
Natalie Scott is a senior at Los Gatos High School and is proud to be serving as a student board representative for the 2014-2015 school year. Natalie has served in student government since her freshman year serving as a member of the freshman cabinet, sophomore class president and junior class president. She has been a proud member of the Los Gatos Varsity lacrosse team since her sophomore year. She enjoys taking part in community service events and is serving her second year as President of the Gold Ribbon Club for childhood cancer awareness. Natalie has a love for music, photography, and dancing, and in her spare time, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her friends.
