In accordance with the bylaws of the LGSUHSD Parcel Tax Oversight Committee (PTOC), members serve two year terms, at the end of which, the Board of Trustees will consider new candidates.
On May 3, 2011 voters in the Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School District demonstrated their support for our students and our schools by passing Measure A - a district parcel tax of $49/parcel, designed to provide a source of locally controlled funding to be used to continue to provide a top quality education for our students.
While there is no legal requirement for a citizen oversight committee for parcel tax funds, Measure A stated explicitly "the Board of Education will establish a process for independent citizen oversight." The committee has been charged with reviewing expenditure reports and ensuring Measure A funds are spent for the following purposes, stipulated by the Measure:
- Provide support for core academic programs such as math, science and English;
- Attract and retain highly qualified teachers;
- Maintain college and career preparation programs;
- Provide classroom materials such as books and science laboratory equipment.
