Ricardo Alas Named 2010 Classified Employee of the Year
Lisa Cochrum Named District Teacher of the Year, 2010
Lisa Cochrum came to Saratoga High School in 1993: Official Title – Earth and Life Science teacher. Since then, she has brought new meaning to that title, earning the respect and admiration of her students and peers and the honor of being named the District’s “2010 Teacher of the Year.” Lisa is a dedicated professional who consistently goes above and beyond for her students and the school. She is described as “engaging, highly competent, and extremely positive.” She is known for her commitment to the success of her students, both in her classes and in other aspects of their lives. She is caring, supportive and dedicated. In addition to her incredible sense of humor, Lisa is also dedicated to helping Special Education students survive and thrive in a highly competitive school. In addition to teaching the Earth Science classes, the entry- level course for most 9th graders with special needs, she team teaches the course with a Special Education teacher to provide even deeper service for students. The intangible that Lisa brings to the campus is her wonderful personality that lights up all staff meetings and other activities that she attends. Her bright personality also illuminates her interaction with students, making their experience at Saratoga as positive as possible. While this award was a result of a vote from her peers, she is the teacher of the year annually in the eyes of her students. Thank you, Lisa!! Ms. Cochrum will be recognized by the Santa Clara County Office of Education on September 29th at 6:15 p.m. at the Heritage Theater in Campbell.
