Happy New Year!
January 7, 2013
Dear Parents, Students and Staff,
When we began the 2012-2013 school year with a strong showing of Red and Orange Pride at the Convocation, I knew it was going to be a great year – and it has been! As we headed into the holidays, we had already weathered financial worries, seen the passage of Prop 30 to ease some of those issues, dug in deeper into the implementation of Common Core State Standards, seated spectators in the new bleachers at LGHS, watched our SHS Marching Band in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and saw our Nova students win the Division II - Alternative Program Volleyball Championship!
Los Gatos – Saratoga High School District is a great place to learn to work – and that’s due to the commitment and passion our teachers bring to work each day, not to mention the papers graded during the wee hours and weekends, and the strong community support we enjoy. You are all educators and role-models, whether you’re in the classroom providing instruction and support, working around campus, making sure things run smoothly, making sure your kids have the support at home to learn and thrive. And, as I watch our students give back to the community and those less fortunate through programs such as the Family Giving Tree, Toys for Tots, the Second Harvest Food Drive, and Kiva, it’s evident you’re all incredible role-models. Thank you!
George De Wilde advises us “Time for work - yet take much holiday for art's and friendship's sake”and I echo his thoughts. You accomplish so much for our students and in support of each other and I hope you took time to rest and enjoy traditions, friends and family. Thank you for an incredible semester and the privilege of working with you!
I look forward to a great new year!
Bob Mistele, Superintendent
