As part of our District’s commitment to all students, English language learners receive targeted instruction and support to meet their needs and support their academic growth. Instruction in English language development is designed and implemented to bring English learners to grade level in a reasonable amount of time and to address the following goals (outlined in the District’s ELL Master Plan):
- English learners will acquire full proficiency in English as rapidly and effectively as possible.
- English learners will meet state standards for academic achievement.
In addition, students are supported as they strive to overcome any academic deficits incurred while learning English. In all areas of the curriculum, staff works to ensure that English learners are afforded the opportunities and resources necessary to foster student success.
